Learn the moves that make burlesque so much fun! You'll be shimmying, peeling, and rocking it in no time! Learn AUTHENTIC burlesque! New York School of Burlesque Headmistress Jo Weldon has learned directly from the ladies who performed during the golden age of twentieth century striptease, and taught these movements, principles and styles to NYSB instructor Clams Casino.
Just to give you an idea of what there is to learn, you'll begin with Classic Moves. Learn the sexy shimmy, the tantalizing glove peel, the devastating bump n grind, and the dazzling tassel-twirl from an internationally recognized striptease expert with decades of performing experience. Boas, gloves, and pasties will be provided to borrow. Wear clothes you would work out in or take dance class in. Bring two pairs of shoes if you like, one with high heels and one without. Skirts are not recommended, nor are flowy sleeves or pantlegs. For the Classic Moves Class, wear or a backhooking standard bra, recommended not lacey or padded or racerback, firm cups are the best but not required, to learn the straptease.
2) 3:00-4:30 "Stripping Out of Street Clothes"

In today's burlesque, the classic striptease elements are also part of a whole new fun, exciting and sexy way of taking off your clothes, onstage or for any occasion. Stripping Out of Street Clothes is New York School of Burlesque Headmistress Jo Weldon's curriculum that brings the vintage bump n grind into the 21st Century: neo-burlesque moves that include innovative ways to incorporate everyday props and objects, and the hottest concepts used by New York's dazzling striptease stars.
Bring an item of street clothing to learn to strip from. ANYTHING, from jeans to a corset to sunglasses!
You do not need to be a performer or planning to perform to take these classes. These classes are suitable for beginners, as well as for experienced dancers or other types of performers curious about the language of burlesque.
