What is the difference between performance art burlesque, neo burlesque and classic burlesque? Ah the question of the century! In this class we'll learn that performance art is easily and often accidentally integrated into what we know as Neo-Burlesque. International Performance Art Star and Burlesque Queen Darlinda Just Darlinda is curating this series focusing on the alternative, narrative, humourous, political, queer, and quirky side of neo-burlesque. This series will feature guest speakers and practical Performance Art Skills to create Performance Art Burlesque acts.
A definition of Performance Art.
In this class we will create a performance art burlesque routine. Students will be given the opportunity to brainstorm and workshop new or old pieces within the S.C.U.M format. Students should bring: A concept they would like to brainstorm, After completing the series, students will have the option to perform in a showcase, time and location TBA. Guest Speakers have included Penny Arcade, Julie Atlas Muz, and Tigger!
