About this Class

In researching proper ways to implement “Hair-Eography” or “Hair Choreography” Darlinda discovered some fun and exciting tips to add sensual and entertaining hair moves to your burlesque routine! In this hair choreography class you will learn proper neck warm-ups, posture for preventing injury, different hair moves for different genres (sensual boudoir, heavy metal headbang, crazy funny hairy, etc.) and how to do these moves with wigs! Bring the hair on your head or a wig that you work with often, clothes you can dance in, and your sense of adventure because it’s going to get hairy!

About Darlinda Just Darlinda

The Village Voice calls DARLINDA JUST DARLINDA a "Mastermind of Bizarre Extravaganza" and she has been working as a Burlesque Performer and Producer since 2004 locally (NYC) and internationally (Australia, China, Finland, Germany, France, England, Canada, and most of the USA including Alaska!)

Darlinda is one half of the Burlesque duo The Schlep Sisters, co producing such shows as Menorah Horah and The Burning Bush vs. The Second Coming. Co-producer of Kate Bushwick! The New York Times have called her shows “shockingly explicit.” Darlinda has also performed Off Broadway and on television; she performed with Taylor Mac in The Lily’s Revenge (Obie) and The 29th Annual Roots of American Music Festival at Lincoln Center. She can be found on television, in HBO's Boardwalk Empire. She’s lectured for Yale’s infamous Sex Week. She's crossed over into performance art with her year long "life as art" projects Year in Dance and Year in Rainbow.

Darlinda is a current faculty member at the New York School of Burlesque and BurlyCon and also teaches internationally. The Sundance Channel made Darlinda a "Top 10 Badass Burlesque Babe," she was voted in the Top 50 International Burlesque Industry Figures of 2011-2014! Darlinda is the recipient of the Golden Pastie Award for The Most Innovative and Creative and The Brooklyn Nightlife Award Winner for Best Burlesque in 2013 & 2014! USA Today says “It’s hard to top Darlinda.”

Performance Art Burlesque April 2016
What is the difference between performance art burlesque, neo burlesque and classic burlesque? Ah the question of the century! In this class we'll learn that performance art is easily and often accidentally integrated into what we know as Neo-Burlesque. International Performance Art Star and Burlesque Queen Darlinda Just Darlinda is curating this series focusing on the alternative, narrative, humorous, political, queer, and quirky side of neo-burlesque. This series will feature a guest speaker and practical Performance Art Skills to create Performance Art Burlesque acts.

A definition of Performance Art.

In this class each student will create a performance art burlesque routine. Students will be given the opportunity to brainstorm and workshop new or old pieces within the S.C.U.M format. Students should bring: A concept they would like to brainstorm, After completing the series, students will have the option to perform in a showcase on Sunday May 8th. Guest Speakers have included Penny Arcade, Julie Atlas Muz, Tigger!, and Velocity Chyaldd.
