MORE INFORMATION

Dirty Martini
Strutting
Many times, what makes or breaks your performance is the way you enter and exit the stage! No gimmick in the world is going to make you look as confident, graceful, and powerful as a beautiful showgirl strut.
Dirty Martini is one of the most famous burlesque performers in the world, a modern legend who has devasted audiences all over the planet. You can see her in the documentary "Dirty Martini and the New Burlesque" and in the Palm-D'or-winning film "Tournee." She is rarely in NYC with time to teach, so catch her while you can!

Indigo Blue
The Art of The Tease: Stunning Stage Presence and Riveting Facial Expressions! Miss Indigo Blue is the founder and headmistress of the Academy of Burlesque in Seattle, WA and has been teaching the Art Of The Tease since 2002. Her techniques include the basics of connecting with an audience, as well as the subtler art of manufacturing desire on-the-fly. Cultivate a smoldering gaze, create a wink that kills, and learn to invite the audience to relish every inch of skin on your body. This class is perfect for the novice and the seasoned burlesque performer who is eager to be daringly gorgeous on stage. Gloves and Boas are provided as props for this class, heels are optional.

Kristina Nekyia
Expose Your Fierce Feminine: Belly Dance Burlesque Performance Workshop
Belly dance, a modern recreation of an ancient art form designed to work within the female body... Burlesque, the sensual celebration of the striptease... Ever since these two art forms collided they have been intertwined in a dangerous dance that threatens to unleash the female in all her power. This one hour workshop is for burlesque performers who would like to incorporate the muscular isolations and snaky movements of belly dance into their bump and grind. No previous belly dance experience is required.
Erupting from the molten core of California’s arts inferno, Kristina Nekyia burns bright across the star-studded skies of stage and screen. Showgrrrl, belly dancer, circus contortion dancer, burlesque queen, pin up nymph, actress, fire eater, director, and writer, she is a Renaissance Femme in the technicolor world of show. Kristina was the 2010 First Runner-Up for the title of Queen of Burlesque at the Burlesque Hall of Fame competition in Las Vegas, and in 2005 she was the Hips of Fury Belly Dance Ultimate Soloist. Her dedication to the art of Mongolian contortion led her to study with the Mongolian Circus in Ulaanbaatar, and develop the first ever belly dance contortion fire duet with world-famous contortionist Serchmaa Byamba. Her eclectic career has enabled her to work, on stage and on screen, with major talents including George Clinton, Margaret Cho, David Arquette, Rachid Taha, Peaches, and DJ Shadow.

Lola Van Ella
In this high energy, action packed hour, Lola will work with performers on a choreographed dance routine. Emphasis will be on learning choreography quickly, getting muscle memory kicked into high gear, and performance polish- including facial expression, poise, attitude and personality; all culminating into a finished piece that will be “stage ready”. Gloves will be provided in class, or feel free to bring your own.

Lux LaCroix
"I'll do an hour long burlesque choreography and musicality class. I have been working with the concept of musicality and incorporating it into choreography through freestyle dancing. It basically gives the students a way of creating their own choreography without having to feel like they have to plot out every 5,6,7 & 8."

Vivienne VaVoom / Michelle Baldwin
Work that boa!
What prop figured prominently in both the act that won Roxi Delite the crown at the Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas, and Coco Lectric's number which won her title of Queen of Burlesque in New Orleans, just this year? A boa! A boa is a prop that can work magic onstage--if you know how to do more than just hang it around your neck. Vivienne (aka Michell Baldwin, the author of Burlesque and the New Bump N Grind) will show you techniques to incorporate boas into your number and talk about how to use boas of different feathers and weights. Boas provided, but bring your own boa, if you have one.

World Famous *BOB*
Ultimate Self-Confidence
Ultimate Self Confidence is the radical and astonishing workshop that everyone is talking about! As seen in the Village Voice "Best of New York 2008" guide. World Famous *BOB* has created a workshop to encourage women (this class is currently women-only, though a co-ed version is planned to be offered in the future) to take larger steps towards who they ultimately want to be - whether it is on stage or in everyday life situations. Confidence is something that is only true when it is created by ourselves and *BOB* will guide you through a series of fun and sometimes challenging exercises to create "courage references" that are guaranteed to stay with you long after you've left class. Come ready to work and be prepared to amaze even yourself! Nothing is hotter or more powerful than self-confidence. *BOB*'s intense and astonishing, boundary-shattering class is known for changing lives and opening minds. You will be exposed and your body fears will be challenged and you will prevail.
