KAREN ABBOTT
Karen Abbot
Karen Abbott is the New York Times bestselling author of Sin in the Second City. Her forthcoming book, American Rose, tells the story of the legendary Gypsy Rose Lee and Depression-era America, with a cast of characters featuring FDR, Fanny Brice, Lucky Luciano and Harry Houdini. It will be published on December 28, in time for Gypsy's 100th birthday.

LILY BURANA
Lily Burana
Lily Burana is a punk rock girl turned writer and editor. Since starting her writing life as a columnist and editor at punk and alternative 'zines, she has gone on to write for The Washington Post, GQ, The New York Times, Self, Glamour, Entertainment Weekly, Details, The Village Voice, The New York Observer, and her reviews and cultural criticism have been picked up by magazines and newspapers around the world. She has been a Contributing Editor at SPIN and New York magazines. Her essays have been included in numerous anthologies, including Sex and Sensibility (Simon and Schuster, 2005) and The May Queen (Tarcher, 2006).
Lily married an active-duty Army officer in 2002. Her latest book, I LOVE A MAN IN UNIFORM: A Memoir of Love, War, and Other Battles (Weinstein Books, 2009) was inspired by the overwhelming response she received to her writing about the domestic side of military affairs--a Slate Diary and a New York Times Op-Ed. Her first non-fiction book, STRIP CITY: A Stripper's Farewell Journey Across America (Miramax Books, 2001) made Best of the Year lists in Entertainment Weekly, Salon, New York Newsday, and Rocky Mountain News, and was selected as a Barnes and Noble Discover New Writers title. Strip City was also named in the Top Six "EW Picks" in Entertainment Weekly's 2008 "So You Want to Write a Memoir" roundup, which featured a thousand recent memoirs. Her novel, TRY (St. Martins Press, 2006), an alt.Western romance, was hailed by Kirkus Reviews as "a touching winter-spring romance set amid full Western regalia.

PAMELA DES BARRES
Pamela Des Barres
Pamela Des Barres was a member of the GTOs (Girls Together Outrageously) an all girl group of rock groupies, mentored and produced by Frank Zappa. Their album Permanent Damage is considered a classic and a very collectible hunk of vinyl. After several years as an actress in commercials, soaps and movie bit parts, she started writing about her madcap days as "the world's most famous groupie," chronicling her relationships with rockers such as Mick Jagger, Jim Morrison, Jimmy Page and Keith Moon in I'm With the Band . She followed that 1987 New York Times Best Seller with the sequel, Take Another Little Piece of My Heart- A Groupie Grows Up, in 1992. Rock Bottom - Dark Moments in Music Babylon was published by St. Martin's Press in 1997, and her most recent offering, Let's Spend the Night Together — Backstage Secrets of Rock Muses and Supergroupies came out in 2007, and has just been published in paperback, along with her second memoir.
Since 1988, Pamela has written for several publications including, Rolling Stone, Cosmopolitan, Details, the New York Times, Los Angeles Magazine, Spin and Playgirl among many others, and she had a 5 year stint as a music columnist for E! Online. She now writes a monthly music column for Rolling Stone Italy, where she has enjoyed huge success with her books. Pamela has been featured in innumerable international documentaries, including Mayor of the Sunset Strip and Plaster Caster and has her very own E! True Hollywood Story. She teaches creative writing workshops around the U.S. and as an ordained minister, performs rock & roll weddings.

DEB DEVI
Deb Devi
Debra is the author of The Language of the Blues: From Alcorub to Zuzu, which the LA Times calls "one of the wittiest, bawdiest and most fascinating dictionaries ever." The only book blurbed by both Bonnie Raitt and Ministry's Al Jourgensen, it won an ASCAP Deems Taylor award for best book on popular culture in 2008. Deb's also the singer and guitarist for the ferocious rock power trio Devi, which Beat magazine describes as "Sheryl Crow meets

ANNE HANAVAN
Anne Hanavan
Anne moved to NYC in 1985. She started off striping at the Pussy Cat Lounge, did a few stints in some Brothels, and because of major dysfunction brought on by a huge heroin habit, she hit the strolls of the lower east side and stayed there for just under a decade. After kicking the habit 11 years ago Anne started making experimental sexually explicit videos were the artist aggressively confronts her past. Hanavan continues to take steps towards self absolution by writing were she takes the reader inside her head to see, from her perspective, her experiences of street walking, tricking, rape, robberies, jail, and the many people she interacted with along the way.

TANGERINE JONES
Tangerine Jones
Tangerine Jones is a performance artist and burlesque performer. She has performed at Rififi, the Slipper Room, Mo Pitkins' House of Satisfaction, Galapagos Art Space and the New York Burlesque Festival(2006) Her latest performance piece, The New Minstrel has been presented at,Weimar New York at Speigeltent (2006/2007), WOW Cafe Theatre and The SoloNova Arts Festival (2007) and is part of a developing work exploring race, iconography and sexuality through spectacle.

HEATHER LITTEER
Heather Litteer
Heather is an actress, singer and performance artist. She has toured internationally with Big Art Group and is currently developing Fleshtone with the company. She also performed in Bitch!Dyke!Faghag!Whore!, Kurt and Courtney, The Secret Sits in the Middle and Clockwork Orange. Her always daring film choices include Requiem For a Dream, The Ballad of Bettie Page, In the Cut and The New Twenty. Television includes Sex in the City and HBO pilot Anyomous. Ms. Litteer's sultry song stying has appeared in Low Life (Howl Festival NYC),Nuit Blanche (Montreal) and Return to New York (UK). Look out for her new dance single with Apokalips. She has curated and produced W.O.(e).R.D.(Women of Experience Read Downtown) and is also a member of the Legendary Jackie Factory! Where she was known as Jessica Rabbit.

VIVA RUIZ
Viva Ruiz
Viva is a dancer/ performer/ filmmaker/musician/native New Yorker who has been blessed to perform with the greatest including Debbie Harry, Penny Arcade, Dean Johnson, Theo Kogan, Big Art Group, Squeezebox, Jackie 60 crew to name only a few. Most recently singing in ESCANDALO a latino goth collab with the illustrious D...esi Monster Santiago, as well as singing for THE CRYSTAL ARK a collab with the wizard Gavin Russom. First single just out on DFA records, premiere show Aug 7th at PS1 WarmUp. Honored to be in the company of beautiful talented wise women, always.

VERONICA VERA
Veronica Vera
"Necessity was truly the mother of invention" in the case of Veronica Vera who literally made history when she created the world's first crossdressing academy, Miss Vera's Finishing School for Boys Who Want to Be Girls, NYC (www.missvera.com). Her school began as a sideline to finance the book she planned to write about her personal sexual evolution and the issues she explored as a sex journalist, erotic model, porn star, pross rights advocate, performance artist and feminist for free expression. Instead, the school became an unexpected new chapter, attracting students from across the country and around the world. Veronica has written two books about her academy, the first bears the same name as the school, the second is Miss Vera's Crossdress for Success. Her memoir project continues. You'll be treated to excerpts on Sunday.

JO BOOBS WELDON
Jo Weldon
Jo Weldon is the Headmistress and Founder of the New York School of Burlesque. Internationally renowned as burlesque personality Jo Boobs, she's rounded her heels on stages from Coney Island to Las Vegas. She's the winner of such exotic titles as Best Bump N Grinder, Best Teacher and Mentor, and Biggest Cougar in Burlesque! She has worked with performers from Leonard Cohen to Spinal Tap, and has been featured on television shows from CBS Sunday Morning to Gossip Girl. Her book, The Burlesque Handbook: A Backstage Guide, featuring a foreword by Margaret Cho, was released by HarperCollins/ItBooks in 2010.
